A grand twist! The second became the first at the 2012 MBC Awards.
Comedian Park Myung Soo finally won the prestigious Grand Prix gong at the 2012 MBC Entertainment Awards on December 29.
The prize is one of the highest awards in the entertainment industry and the very first ‘Daesang’ he has received from MBC.
Although part of popular a duo, it’s his comedian partner Yoo Jae Suk who has picked up the most attention over the years. It’s for this reason that park has dubbed by the media as “the second rank”.
In his acceptance speech, Park reminisced over his past 20 years in show business, which he’s never taken a single holiday from.
“I am holding back tears right now,” he admitted. “This is the award I’ve dreamed about all my life.”
And Park is not the only one who climbed up from the second tier. Variety show Radio Star, which is often seen as a sideshow to the popular Guru series, won the Program of the Year. And it’s co-host Kyuhyun, of Super Junior Fame, won Male Rookie of the Year.
“I’m really honoured,” the 24-year-old singer said in a post-show interview. “It makes me want to work harder and show an even better side of myself.”
