"I'm working hard to overcome it." That's Nam Taehyun's response when talking about his acting debut on SBS' Midnight Diner drama that received a barrage of criticism last year.
The Winner singer and budding actor attended a roundtable conference for the release of the group's new album "EXIT:E" at a trendy cafe in Hongdae, Seoul, last week, where he was asked about his decision to appear on tvN's Actor School reality series.
Nam, 21, responded, "When you go there, you change. You can see the end of yourself. I learned that you have to be very kind to the other person. I don't think I was able to do that before."
He continued, "I'm the type that needs to do something to be satisfied. Because I like movies, I naturally became interested in acting. If you want to act, you need to show them something that satisfies the person watching. I think that's just manners. But I wasn't able to do that. I'm sorry for that."
Nam Tae Hyun made his screen debut Midnight Diner in July 2015. However, he was slammed by viewers and press who suggested that he was not prepared or good enough for the role.
Despite the harsh criticism, the idol says he is hungry to improve. "I"m aware that there′s controversy surrounding my acting skills," he said. "I acknowledge it because I wasn't able to show it properly... I'm learning a lot through Actor School right now. In the future, when I'm ready, if a good opportunity comes along, I want to continue acting."
