Call it a case of lost in translation, but when PSY met with Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper for a live New Year's Eve interview, things got awkward pretty fast.
The impromptu chat took place on CNN's countdown show when PSY, and one-time stage partner MC Hammer, stopped by to say hello.
"Keep doing your 'Gangnam Style' or any other style you choose," comedian Griffin, 52, quipped to the rapper. "Any style! You can't lose! You're really printing... There's money just coming out of your butt at this point, isn't there? You're printing money, everywhere you go."
A slightly-bemused PSY, 35, responded: "Thank you. That means a lot to me, coming from you"
Co-host Anderson Cooper, 45, was quick to call out Griffin on her comment. "Did you just say to PSY that money is coming out of his butt?" he asked.
Speaking this morning, Cooper says of the TV chat: "He was pushed on by some PSY PR team... I don't think he knew where he was. I don't think he knew who we were. I don't think he realized he was on CNN."
