Enlisted singer Rain has been put on probation for seven days, after being caught on unauthorised dates with gilfriend Kim Tae Hee.

South Korea's Ministry of National Defence announced the punishment today after confirming that the 30-year-old had broken the rules for visiting girlfriend Kim Tae Hee during military hours.

Although enlisted as an entertainment soldier in October 2011, which means he is given additional days off for work and performing, officials confirm that the "Rainism" star visited Kim on three unauthorised occasions last year: November 23, December 2 and December 9.

"Private Jung Ji Hoon [Rain's real name], went to a studio in Cheongdam [Seoul] to finish post-production editing on a new song three times," a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence says in a statmenet. "After the work was done, he met Kim Tae Hee in private and returned to the army base in her car, violating the military decree.

"After meetings with his unit's disciplinary committee, it has been decided he will be confined to his base for seven days. This time should be used for self-reflection and contemplation."

Rain's disciplinary action means he will spend one week confined to to army base in Uijeongbu, north of Seoul. This incident  will not affect his July 10 discharge date.

On December 31, IdolWow! ran the first photos of the couple's secret dates, confirming their four-month relationship.

"He's really into her," a source said at the time. "It's been difficult for them to meet, but he's doing his best to make it work."
