PSY's "Gangnam Style" is officially the most viewed video on the planet! The global smash today hit an astonishing two billion views on YouTube, almost two years after it was first released.

The video -- which is still being watched by millions -- already holds numerous YouTube records, including the first billion-view clip and was one of driving forces behind increased international interest in the K-pop scene.

"Two billion views; they are very honourable and very burdensome numbers," 36-year-old told YouTube in a statement released today. "With the appreciation, I will come back soon with more joyful contents!"

His follow-up song "Gentleman" set the record for the most YouTube views in a single day - 38 million on April 14, 2013.

Surprisingly, just three per cent of "Gangnam Style" views at YouTube have been from inside South Korea.
