Comedian Noh Hong Chul is quitting all his shows after being caught drunk driving.
On Saturday, November 8, the 35-year-old TV entertainer announced that he would withdraw from all his shows after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to police reports, the idol star was caught drunk driving in his Mercedes car in Seoul on Friday night, November 7. It is reported that the entertainer admitted to wrongdoing promptly and initially requested to take a blood test instead of a Breathalyzer test in attempt to minimize the detriment to his show schedule as the blood test would require 15 days to process as opposed to the Breathalyzer’s instant decision.
Noh — who also starred in PSY’s "Gangham Style" music video — however apologized and announced his immediate withdrawal the next day, making him absent from some of his major feature shows such as MBC’s Infinite Challenge.
Coincidentally, the entertainer’s appearances were edited out of the Saturday’s broadcast of Infinite Challenge.
On the same night of the DUI incident, model Jang Yoon Joo posted a photo from her birthday party on Facebook and while Noh Hong Chul was absent from the photo, a slur of speculations suggested that the two events were linked and implied that Noh Hong Chul had gotten drunk at her party.
However, a rep for the model has denied such claims and released a statement saying, "It’s true that Jang Yoon Joo celebrated her birthday over a dinner but it was with a group of friends unassociated to Noh Hong Chul."
"The pair did not even meet that day. We believe these false rumors began due to Jang Yoon Joo’s birthday and the incident happening on the same day."
