Former EXO member turned movie star Luhan is threatening legal action to anyone that continue to spread rumors that he has a child with a secret Korean girlfriend.
The 25-year-old has instructed his lawyers in, Beijing's Haiwen & Partners, to threaten legal action to after what started out as a false blind item got picked up on numerous outlets in China.
The firm also put out a cease and desist letter (pictured) to the blogger that started the gossip, requesting they remove the post by 5pm local time today or face further action.
The allegations started when an individual by the username of "gossipmaker" shared a story on China's WeChat service that a popular figure by the name of "Mr. L from a Korean idol group would be returning to China and that he was married and with child."
After defamatory news spread like wildfire, Luhan's agency this morning, July 9, responded with an official statement of denial in an attempt to contain the situation.
The agency -- Nanjing Luhan Film & Television Culture Studio -- wrote in a Weibo post on his official page that claims there is no such girlfriend nor child nor marriage and say that the rumor is simply malicious.
But the statement did little to put out the rumor flames and the news had already been twisted to include the detail that his girlfriend's birthday is March 1 and that marriage paperwork was completed in the same month.
Some people even wrote that have eyewitness accounts of the purported pair holding hands on the street of Hong Kong. All of this is completely false.
