After months of training and rehearsals, girl group Lovelyz debuted today — without one of their members.
It was announced Wednesday, November 12, that due to poor health, 20-year-old singer Seo Ji Soo has been forced to postpone her activities with the new girl group.
Her unwell status has been reportedly fueled by a series of controversial rumors and accusations that spread online ahead of the band's debut.
At a press showcase today in Seoul today, only seven girls were present and they made no mention of their band mate.
Slanderous and untrue rumors started by internet trolls have ranged from Ji Soo's sexual orientation and that she joined Woollim Entertainment to seduce the boys of Infinite; to sick accusations that she fantasized about rape.
"Seo Ji Soo's mental shock is immense," said a rep for the group. "We've decided that it would be impossible to carry out normal activities."
The spokesman further explains that the singer has been struggling to practice due to her weak state.
