Update (July 22, 8:15pm EDT): Kim Soo Hyun's team have released a statement wishing his half-sister good luck.

A rep for the actor says, "It's true [she] is [his] half-sister. But we also know that they never lived together. He didn't know she was preparing to become a singer but sends well wishes now that he knows."

(July 22, 12:30pm EDT) When an unknown female singer debuted with a song on the soundtrack to SBS’s new series High Society, no one would have guessed she's related to one of the most famous stars in Korea.

But it's been revealed that Kim Joo Na is the younger half-sister of superstar idol actor Kim Soo Hyun.

Though the actor has not directly commented on the news, his agency Keyeast Entertainment confirmed that they are half-siblings and share the same mother.

Says a rep, "He previously didn't speak about the issue because he intended to be considerate of his mother's heart."

Kim Joo Na's song "How Do I Live Without You?” on High Society’s original soundtrack comes after almost four years of hard training.

The singer stated on her Twitter page yesterday: "My song for the High Society OST is finally out. Please show your love and support. I will work hard from now. Thank you."
