In the clear. All domestic violence charges against Kim Hyun Joong have been dropped, bringing the shocking case — in which the star was accused of repeatedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend - to a close.
On September 17, a spokesman at the Songpa Police station in Seoul announced that the charges against the 28-year-old entertainer have been withdrawn.
"We receive the application for withdrawal of the case against Kim Hyun Joong at 12:30 pm," said the official.
In the scandalous case, the Boys Over Flowers star's girlfriend accused him of repeated injuries arising from domestic violence over the course of two months. Kim admitted to one physical fight, but denied that the situation happened repeatedly.
Despite the dispute, the two legal parties agreed to end litigation if the singer and actor officially apologized. On September 15, he posted a letter to his official website admitting his wrongdoings. The singer also met with his ex-girlfriend to personally make amends.
In a statement from the opposing party, the ex-girlfriend's lawyer explained: "The plaintiff voiced her opinion that she didn't want him to be penalized, so the lawsuit was withdrawn.
"Kim Hyun Joong personally met with the victim and gave her a sincere apology. After a few days of contemplation, she decided to withdraw the case with no conditions and no settlement."
