Jiyoung Confirms Plans to Leave Kara in April to Study Acting

Another one bites the dust. Kara's Jiyoung has confirmed she will leave the girl group in April after deciding not to renew her contract with management company, DSP Media.

A spokesman for the entertainment group wrote in a statement: "Kang Jiyoung will not be extending her exclusive contract with DSP Media unless new negotiations are made." News of Jiyoung's departure first surfaced in October 2013.

Earlier today, January 16, a Korean tabloid spoke with the 19-year-old singer's father -- who asked for his name not to be printed. He confirmed his daughter is leaving the group to pursues her "individual aspirations".

Jiyoung has been in Kara for seven years, but her father reveals that she now intends to study to become an actress. "There are no ill feelings towards the group," says a source.

News of Jiyoung’s departure comes after Nicole -- another original member of the group -- revealed her plans to leave the group and move to the US.

Starting from April, Kara will consist of just three members Gyuri, Seungyeon and Goo Hara. It's not yet known if they will audition for new members.
