Girl's Generation members Hyoyeon and Yuri will join Shinhwa's Lee Min Woo as dance coaches on survival talent show Dancing 9, a series rep confirms.
The idol trio will join the hit Mnet competition, which premieres on July 20, to help choose and train the most talented dancers through nine intense rounds. The grand prize? A cool $445,000.
An Mnet spokesman explains that new celebrity recruits were chosen because of their "superior dance skills and influence on the global Hallyu wave".
Hyoyeon, 23, says of joining Dancing 9: "When we performed in Asia and Europe, we saw how people around the world can become one through dance. We know how powerful dance can be and we want to share our experience and know-how in fashion, trends, performances and teamwork with the contestants of Dancing 9."
Adds Yuri, 23: "We'll work hard to help those who want to be professional dancers."
Shinhwa singer Lee, 33, explains that his dance experience makes him the perfect choice. "Through my 15 years of promotions with Shinhwa and after meeting with music fans from around the world, I discovered dance is a genre that transcends language, age and genders. I support the show's concept and I immediately accepted the offer when it came. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and accepting the new dance challenges. I'm very excited."
The idols, who will coach two teams, join judges Lee Yong Woo, Park Ji Woo and Park Ji Eun.
