After two-and-a-half years as the female MC on One Night of TV Entertainment, Girls' Generation's Sooyoung is retiring from her post.

It was announced that the girl group superstar would step down from the SBS show after her last feature on tonight's December 24 broadcast.

According to an SM Entertainment source, Girls' Generation's international plans next year are so busy that it would be "difficult" for the songstress to maintain her appearance consistently on the show.

Sooyoung, 24, said in a statement released today, "Since becoming an MC on One Night of TV Entertainment a lot of good things such as drama appearances came my way.

"Even though I was busy with concerts and such, it was rewarding. I believe I am forever a family member of One Night of TV Entertainment."

Taking position as the new female MC of the show will be news presenter Jang Ye Won — SBS' youngest ever news presenter
— who will make her first appearance next year on January 7.
