What a trooper! Lead singer of FT Island Lee Hongki endured five grueling hours of filming a water torture scene as part of his upcoming drama Modern Farmer.
On Wednesday, October 15, SBS released a set of promotional photos showing the 24-year-old with his hands and legs bound in green tape and body wrapped in rope, suspended over a water barrel.
The scenes were shot in August at a closed down construction site in Gyeonggi province. With the utmost attention to safety, after director Oh Jin Suk gave the cue, a pulley drew up the You're Beautiful star and dropped him over and over into the water barrel below.
To achieve the shot from a variety of angles, the process continued for five long hours, with Lee Hongki having to repeatedly deliver his lines.
A production source says that the whole team worried about the actor's endurance abilities, explaining, "When we were filming the water torture scene, the weather was chilly due to the rain and the staff members were also worried about Lee Hongki's body condition."
Thankfully, Hongki's good attitude and professionalism meant filming went off without a hitch, concluding with a smile from the rocker star. The set source further comments, "Hongki comforted the staff members and enjoyed filming, making everyone feel thankful. He is a veteran after all, both as a singer and an actor."
Modern Farmer is a comedy drama about a four-member rock band called Excellent Souls that moves to the countryside to become farmers. Hongki plays the band leader alongside Park Min Woo, Lee Si Un and Kwak Dong Yeon.
