The rookies take the win. EXO swooped in to take the biggest prize at this year's KBS Music Festival in Seoul on Friday, December 27.
The boys of EXO-K and EXO-M graciously accepted the Song Of The Year award for their hit single "Growl". Their 296 points allowed them to beat the other idol powerhouses like B2ST, Infinite, SHINee and Sistar.
"We really want to thank everyone for giving us this award. We excelled in selling over 1 million copies of our album, which was the first time in 12 years to do so," EXO's leader Suho, 22, stated.
"We are really honored to be able to receive this big award... I will never forget this moment. We will repay everyone for their support with an even better image and music in future."
Earlier in the day, the boys became the first idol band in twelve years to sell over one millions copies of one album within a year.
The 2013 KBS Music Festival, which was hosted by miss A's Suzy, Yoon Si Yoon and Lee Hwi Jae, was jammed packed with special idol stages.
Miss A's "Hush" became the most watched moment of the program with a 13.8% spike in viewership ratings. Embarrassingly for Min, 22, that meant even more people saw her get accidentally hit in the chin by one of their backup dancers during the performance. (Fortunately, her agency, JYP Entertainment, assures IdolWow! that the singer was not injured).
Girls Generation ended the year with a show stopping performance of "I Got A Boy". Ailee and Hyorin proved they are the power vocalists of K-pop with a strong rendition of Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s single "Telephone".
The show took a raunchy turn when HyunA twerked along to Rihanna's "Birthday Cake". And Kara's JiYoung and Goo Hara put on a tease-like performance to Ciara’s "Body Party". The girls of the group, shook their hips and winded their waists to the R&B track.
Songstress Lee Hyori collaborated with Dymanic Duo for a sizzling remix performance of "Bad Girls".
B2ST's Yoseob and A Pink's Eunji warmed hearts with their ballad "When I First Saw You." Solo artist Kim Yeonwoo turned IU's hit "Good Day" into a rock anthem. While, IU and boyband Daybreak killed it with their "Got It Covered" tune.
All the idols who performed in the music fest, ignited the audience with their rendition of Cho Yong Pil's "Bounce", one of the biggest singles of the year.
