Psy just got major props!

CNN announced today that the rapper took eighth place on their 'Most Intriguing People of 2012' list.

The vote took place after CNN selected their 20 stars of the year and passed the list to a public vote for the top 10.

CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin says: "Say what you want, but his lasso-inspired dance style, first discovered on YouTube, had everyone going Gangnam, and we mean everyone,"

And 34-year-old is in great company. Top of the list is US president Barack Obama, followed by Malala Yousfzai, a young education activist in Pakistan, and Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas.

Gangnam Style is still riding high in the charts. The video recently became the most-viewed YouTube clip of all time, topping 1 billion hits.

Next week, Psy will perform on ABC's infamous Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve 2013 show, live from New York's Times Square with Ryan Seacrest.
