Brian Joo lives to tell the story of some troubled times.
The 32 year-old singer has revealed he contemplated suicide during his loneliest days in Korea away from friends and family at home in the United States.
"Because I was pained and distressed while I was actively promoting as Fly to the Sky, I almost made the wrong decision," he told SBS' Good Morning.
"It was during the period when I was already a veteran in the industry. I got really lonely living the celebrity lifestyle and received a lot of stress living each day."
He went on to describe a worrying moment of contemplation: "Once, I looked outside the window from the 13th floor apartment that I shared with [band mate] Hwanhee. For a brief moment, I almost committed suicide."
However, it was his friendship with his now 31-year-old singing parter Hwanhee, who is currently on two-year military duty, that got him through the dark days. "Through the difficulties, Hwanhee was there for me," Joo explains. "I'm grateful for his continuous support."
Fly to the Sky disbanded in 2009, but Joo has remained busy with his solo activities, including a new-found love for fitness.
On May 31, he participated in the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. Joo was also Men's Health Korea's cover boy for April.
"It's important to stay healthy," Joo has said of keeping fit. "When my body is right, so is my mind. I feel good, I feel clear."
