Block B Lose Court Case over Missing Payments, Breeched Contract

Block B have lost their court case against their agency, Stardom Entertainment, over missing salary payments and breech of contract. After filing an injunction against Stardom in January, the Seoul Central Court finally sided with the band's former agency.

The court's judge concluded: "It is difficult to claim that the label did not pay Block B on purpose. It is also difficult to say that the label did not provide proper facilities such as studios, dorms, education and guidance. The written records don't prove that Stardom Entertainment violated their management obligations."

The judge added: "From just the evidence provided, [we] cannot conclude that the label kept money from the group on purpose. There is a big probability that the unpaid fees will be paid. It is difficult to say that the exclusive contract has been nullified because of a violation of management obligations."

Block B members Zico, Taeil, B-Bomb, Jaehyo, UKwon, Kyung and P.O. have been relentless in their fight for the nullification of their contract since filing charges against the agency.

Shortly after the court's ruling, the group issued a joint statement, reading: "We will be calmly fighting the original case to confirm the legitimacy of the contract nullification. We will be demanding responsibility from Stardom Entertainment of the violation of management obligation and violating the exclusive contract."

The group also confirmed they will no longer perform under Stardom's name, explaining: "The Block B members have no intention to promote under Stardom Entertainment. If the legitimacy of the contract nullification is not acknowledged in the original case, then we will be taking responsibility for the damages due. We apologize for upsetting our fans."
