Former EXO members Kris and Luhan made their first public appearance in China today since leaving the group, putting on brave faces despite their impending lawsuits with SM Entertainment.
The two boy band idols were spotted side by side on Sunday, February 8, at rehearsals for China’s broadcast station CCTV’s 2015 Spring Festival Gala — on of the most watched television events in the world.
Kris and Luhan smiled and laughed together, igninting rumors that a collaborative performance may be in the works for the TV spectacular.
A joint appearance was indeed hinted earlier by 24-year-old Luhan himself in January, during a press conference for the Chinese remake of the Korean movie Miss Granny, he said of collaborating with Kris, 24, “You’ll see when the time comes, but you didn’t hear it from me.”
When Sunday’s rendezvous finally happened, it drew so much commotion among fans that “#KRISHANDAY” trended more than anything else on Twitter around the word.

The pair’s reunion comes amidst continuing legal scuffles with EXO’s managing agency SM Entertainment in Korea. Both stars filed lawsuits to terminate their exclusive contracts with SM last year, but the company countered with an opposing lawsuit against both members and their respective new management companies for continuing acting activities in China, despite remaining under contract.
Kris and Luhan both await their fifth and fourth rounds of mediation, respectively, with SM Entertainment on February 27.
