They were close friends when they were at SM Entertainment together and now Tao has shared his deep thoughts after the passing of SHINee‘s Jonghyun.
The former EXO member expressed his feelings on his personal Instagram account, leaving a post and caption to his 7.8 million followers around the world.
“It was cold at the time when I first arrived in Korea,” he wrote, alongside a simple blank photo. “When I first went to the broadcast station, I heard the song ‘Hot Times’. It left such a beautiful memory. Because of that performance and that song, I wanted to stand on the stage quickly myself. I wanted to hurry up and practice as well.”
He added, “The first sunbae I met in Korea was hyung [you]. Right now I feel in such a way that I can’t even describe with words.”
Tao – who is currently based in China – joins a host of other idols who have left messages on various social media platforms about their sadness and remembrance since Jonghyun’s tragic passing on December 18.
2PM singer Jun. K tweeted, “My heart hurts so much. Inside that bright image we saw there must have been so much conflict and pain… I hope he rests peacefully.”
Bandmate Junho added, “I refuse to believe it. I don’t want to believe it.”
And Day6’s Jae tweeted, “As one of my first Korean influences, my heart aches for this tragedy. From the bottom of my heart, may he rest in peace.”
