Members of BTS, Girls’ Generation, Red Velvet and more K-pop pop acts have paid their respects today after the tragic death of SHINee’s Jonghyun.
Joining the likes of members from EXO (who reportedly visited early in the morning), IU, BTS, Zico, BoA and f(x)‘s Krystal and Luna, the stars were seen by local media outlets entering the Asan Medical Center Funeral Home in Seoul where the late artist currently rests.
SM Entertainment announced today that Onew, Taemin, Key and Minho will officiate Jonghyun’s funeral ceremony on December 21. The role is know in Korea as “sang too” which roughly translates to “chief mourners” and is usually taken on by the closest male relatives of the deceased.
There will also be separate opportunities for fans to pay their respects at a public mortuary. SM Entertainment said in a statement, “In accordance with his family’s wishes, we have set up a separate location for fans to remember and pay their final respects to Jonghyun, who has created many precious memories together…. We ask that you send him warm thoughts, so that Jonghyun, the best artist, may be able to rest peacefully.”
Fans will be able to pay show their respects on December 19 until 8PM KST and on the December 20 from 12PM to 8PM, local time.
