Lee Min Ho is not just actor, singer, model — he’s a Hallyu hero!
The 2014 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards is awarding Lee Min Ho, 27, the Prime Minister Award for his services in spreading Hallyu across Asia.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism today announced the winners of the 2014 awards today and the screen star was among eight public figures to receive the Prime Minister Award alongside other idols Kim Soo Hyun, singer Jin Mi, EXO, Jeon Guk Hwan, drama writer Park Ji Eun, comedian Shin Dong Yeop and producers Jung Dae Kyung and Na Young Seok.
A conference rep says, “The Hallyu wave that began with Winter Sonata in Japan has now extended externally through the vast development of Pan-Asiatic regions and Chinese markets. In this situation, Lee Min Ho, who is in the center of the new Hallyu wave, both represents and symbolizes the entertainment industry.”
The Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards is a government scheme to recognize the contributions and achievements of artists in pop culture . As the star dramas like Boys Over Flowers and The Heirs — both of which spread like wildfire across the East Asia and the world — it’s obvious why Lee is being commended for his contributions.
