It’s been 10 years since his debut in Korea so it’s no surprise that he is reflecting on his career during this milestone moment.
2PM‘s Nichkhun opened up to Nate about his acting career, including role in upcoming Thai romcom movie Brother & Sister, future plans and spending time away from the Korean entertainment industry.
Talking about his overseas work, he told the popular website, “I was overseas. Last month I was in Thailand for a prayer ceremony for Brother & Sister and then I was in Japan and China for a fan meet and an awards ceremony. These days I’m mostly going back and forth between Thailand, China and Japan.”
“I think I’ll be in Thailand until January because I’m filming a movie. People ask if I’ve retired from Korea but it’s not true, I did not retire… I hope that fans in Korea will see more of me [next year].”
Talking about his acting work, he revealed, I can’t say I’m an actor yet. I’m officially starting now, so I’m lacking a lot.” He added that he wanted to become an actor much earlier in his career but didn’t want to take away from 2PM’s activities. “Now that the other members [are enlisting in the military], now felt like the right time.”
He also spoke of his admiration for younger groups on the K-pop scene, including BTS. “When I look at my juniors, the first thing I think is that I’m getting old and that they’re really good and really cool. BTS are amazing. The juniors’ talents are getting increasingly better, but I think the working environment has gotten worse. These days, there seems to only be idol singers so I think it’s more competitive and music shows are becoming more catered to teens. I want talented juniors to be able to make music in a better environment, and am sad that it’s not possible.”
